Another year, another Yuletide Blast. As usual the Highlands had just received a healthy snowfall (during my drive) which helped to make the trails perfect. This year they changed the race format somewhat. Instead of a two separate races (one day pursuit) they integrated both techniques into one race (duathlon or skiathlon or continuous pursuit). The format was individual start which did cut down a little on the transition zone confusion. Overall the racing went well. Despite the good conditions, however, I wasn’t racing too quickly (insert all excuses here). The race is always a good time though and will certainly help set things up for the coming season. A.
