Last weekend I spent time training on the trails at Silver Star Resort and Sovereign Lake Nordic Club (host of the recent World Cup races). The skiing was excellent, snow conditions were great and the weather was much more cooperative than it was in Alberta. The trails are fun to ski, despite the fact that they are all either a lot of work for the lungs (winding their way up the mountain) or the legs (screaming downhills). Watching the races was great. It was interesting to see how all the top racers ski in comparison to the Canadians.
The women’s team had a great weekend and it was nice to be a part of the large cheering crowd. Currently I’m in Southern Ontario doing some work and then heading off shortly to the University of Waterloo training camp at Highlands Nordic - Duntroon (Collingwood) and the Yuletide Ski Race. I’ll post more world cup pictures later when I get a chance.
