Over 500 competitors took part in the Eastern Canadian Championships (O-Cup and OUAA race) at Club Skinouk on very flat short loops in the Gatineau Park . Saturday was a 10km classic for the men and 5km for the women while Sunday was a 15km skate for the men and a 10km for the women. Andrew Rees, recovering from a cold, placed 65th in a field of 122 men in Saturday's 10k and 54th of 131 in the 15k skate on Sunday. Stephanie Rees, also recovering from illness, placed 54th of 90 in Saturday's 5k and 40th of 90 on Sunday in the 10km skate.
