The 2005 Keskinada World Loppet took place on
the weekend in the Gatineau park in Hull Quebec. Temperatures for Saturday's classic events were the
usual Keski -20 C. Waxing was made less complicated by temperatures but skiers
had to deal with fairly abrasive snow early in the race and fresh, slow, new
snow further out on the course. Andrew Rees skied the 50 km classic in 3:12
and despite not feeling 100% in the first 25km finished 31st overall. Also in
the event from North
Bay was Perry Kirkey who
won the men's 55-59 category in 3:27. Stephanie Rees raced the 25km classic finishing first in the 25-29
category and 10th women overall with a time of 1:42.
Also in the event was Linda Kirkey from North Bay who finished 8th in her category in 2:10.
Stephanie also competed in Sunday's 25km skate where she again won her category
and placed third overall in the women's race. Aaron Duquette competed in the
10km skate on Sunday finishing 29th overall out of over 400 racers in 27:49.
