| A Dominating Performance in Pembroke |

Unfortunately,
there were no podium pictures (well.. there was no podium); however, potential
sponsors should note this dominating performance could provide some good
advertising. Only Alicia came away with a door prize, but all three happily
adjourned to Pembroke’s local Eastside Mario’s (product placement anyone?) for
some pasta and chocolate cake.

Stay tuned
for next week’s race where Steve and Alicia take on the behemoth and
ultra-competitive Gatineau Loppet 53km skate while Steph attempts the Gatineau
Loppet 29km double (29km classic Saturday and 29km skate Sunday). Sorry sports
fans: no head-to-head battle next weekend for Alicia and Steph, but I think we
all need breather from this rivalry (I know what you’re thinking.. how can it
be a rivalry when one person is so convincingly dominating? Well, some of us (a.k.a.
me) like to hope and dream). |

On a windy Sunday at the rolling course of PAXC, the Ottawa-based chapter of NSXC.ca took to the trails again for another day of rigorous racing. On the previous day, Steve and Alicia acquitted themselves well at the 2008 edition of the Silver Spoon (for more details, contact them! All I know is that the course was mostly double-poling and that Alicia won and Steve did well), while Steph generally spent the day doing nothing until dusk when she decided to get in a little extra training. The PAXC race consisted of a small but happy group of racers and one trumpet player who provided good tunes at the start line. The course, as mentioned above, was rolling with little rest and lots of wind and blowing snow. However, NSXC.ca performed brilliantly with Steve gaining the overall win and Alicia and Steph following not too far behind for second and third overall respectively (Yes… the season total now sits at: Alicia = 3; Steph = big fat zero).
